Storm Winds Blow

Storm winds blow,
Within and without.
Threatening.
Violent.
Overwhelming.

Why are we here?
Where is our help?
Hidden?
Unbidden?
Yes, I am here.

Peace,
The Master says,
Be still.
Peace,
The Master says,
Come out.

Chains abound,
Within and without.
Helplessness.
Hopelessness.
Out of control.

Why are we here?
Where is our help?
Hidden?
Unbidden?
Yes, I am here.

Come, where I go.
Come, where I am.
Beyond what’s safe.
Beyond what’s known.
Come,
To the other side.

Peace,
The Master says,
Be still.
Peace,
The Master says,
Come out.

Come, where I go.
Come, where I am.
Beyond what’s safe.
Beyond what’s known.
Come,
To the other side.

Our Hope Is In ___?

Our Hope Is In ___?

Why do we hope in armies?
Why do we hope in guns?
In the weapons of this world?

Why do we hope in power?
Why do we hope in our way?
In the systems of this world?

Why do we hope in comfort?
Why do we hope in safety?
In the reflexes of this world?

Why do we hope in churches?
Why do we hope in doctrine?
In the patterns of this world?

When Love, never failing,
When Love, ever waiting,
Is here, within our call.

Come With Me

Come. Come.
I will take you where
You can find a place
That will keep you safe
Though your night is dark
And pain tears your heart.
Put your hand in mine
We will make the climb
That will take us where
There is peace to share
Where your dreams can mend
And hope has no end.
You can turn around
When new life is found.
He will draw you in
And forgive your sin.
He will take your fears
And He’ll dry your tears.
Come.
I will take you there.
Come.
To the grace of God.
Come.
To the love of God.
Come, to His embrace.
Come.

Come Back

Come back to Me.
Come back to stay.
Come back from what
Drew you away.

I’ll welcome you
With arms held wide.
I’ll offer you
A place to hide.

I am waiting
For you to see
I am your home.
Come back to Me.

(Jeremiah 1-3)

Can’t Get Away

Can’t get away from Your love.
Can’t get away from Your love.

No matter how deep I sink.
No matter how far I go.
No matter how high my pride.
No matter how much I know.

Your love goes deeper.
Your love goes farther.
Your love goes higher.
Your love knows more.

Can’t get away from Your love.
Can’t get away from Your love.

No matter how hard I try.
No matter how strong my wall.
No matter the turns I take.
No matter the times I fall.

Your love tries harder.
Your love is stronger.
Your love will follow.
Your love goes on.

Can’t get away from Your love.
Can’t get away from Your love.

Calm, With a Chance of Surprise

Pain has encompassed
You like a sea,
And the high tossing waves
Are all that you see.
Be still.
I am with you,
With all that you need.

Life’s repeated duties
Are pressing you down,
Wherever you look
You are met with a frown.
Be still.
I am with you.
I’m making your crown.

Death has surprised you.
It’s taken a friend,
And the strong winds of grief
Have caused you to bend.
Be still.
I am with you.
My love never ends.

Security’s been shaken,
With storms you’re assailed,
And far from your shores
You find you have sailed.
Be still.
I am with you.
On the cross I was nailed.

What calm can abide
Where life’s tempests will blow?
The stillness you find
When My peace you know.
Be still.
I am with you.
My grace, I will show.

Beauty For Ashes

Out of the ashes of life’s tragedies
Out of the ashes of hatred and need
Out of the ashes of life lived alone
Out of the ashes of love never known

Beauty arises, turn now to Him
Beauty arises, admit to your sins
Beauty arises, receive from above
Beauty arises, dwell in His love

Out of the ashes of life once destroyed
Out of the ashes of tears long denied
Out of the ashes of hope never shown
Out of the ashes of love never known

Beauty arises in His embrace
Beauty arises, showered with grace
Beauty arises in every hour
Beauty arises, lived in His power

Gift of Dawn

In the darkness of the night…
Dawn is coming. In stillness preceding light…
Dawn is coming.
In the depth of dark despair…
Dawn is coming.
In sharp coldness everywhere…
Dawn is coming.

It comes in humbleness and light.
It comes in mystery and quiet.
It comes in pain and sacrifice.
It comes in glory and surprise.

To the weak and to the small…
Dawn is coming.
To the ones who dare not call…
Dawn is coming.
To the king who yields his will…
Dawn is coming.
To the angels waiting still…
Dawn is coming.

It comes with hope for each new day.
It comes with mercy to proclaim.
It comes with promise to all lands.
It comes with grace from God’s own hand.

With the dawn comes hope and joy.
A common birth, a baby boy.
A gift to all from God above.
A message true, a note of love.

Sing of the Dawn that’s come to us.
Praise His Name, the Lord Jesus.

I Am the One

In a world where nothing seems secure;
In a world where nothing’s truly pure;
Plans are made and dreams are torn
And nothing stands for long;
Is there nowhere, nothing, no one,
That is safe and strong?

Come and find Me,
Come and try Me –
So much more
Than everything you’ve known.
Here beside you,
Here inside you,
This is where
I long to make My home.

In a world where dark and light
Seem oftentimes confused;
In a world where someone’s promise
Leaves you feeling used;
Is there nowhere, nothing, no one,
Who will show you truth?

Come and find Me,
Come and try Me –
So much more
Than everything you’ve known.
Here beside you,
Here inside you,
This is where
I long to make My home.

I am the One who carved the seas,
Who set the stars to shine.
I am the One who bears all things,
You have no need to hide.
I am the One who will restore you,
I will make you Mine.

Hope

Hope
is the confidence
that there is more
than what we feel
Hope
is the trust
in a God
that is real
Hope
is the place
deep inside
where we find
Hope
as a gift
for our hearts
and our minds
Hope
is not wishing
for change from
without or inside
Hope
is the touch
of the Lord
where we hide
Hope
will sustain
when it rests
on the truth
Hope
is the Spirit
living in
and through you
