Lost Childhood Redeemed

Across the world,
And in our homes
Children cry,
And children moan.
How can a heart
Not want to know,
Where did these children’s
Childhood go?

Lost in sewers;
Trapped by trust;
Tossed in garbage;
Destroyed by trust;
Burdened by death;
Chained by need;
Shattered by war;
Betrayed by greed.

Is there a way
To restore hope?
A way that they
Can more than cope?
Stretch out your hand,
Join with a friend,
Make a chain,
And reach again.
Combine your tears
With those long dried
As you walk
Alongside.
