A Child’s Heart

A child’s heart
Takes in words
Too hard to bear.
A parent’s heart
Feels the sword,
Sees it tear,
A double stroke.
No! Even more.
This death strikes
Too large a chord.
Wrap yours arms
Around the child,
Surround with love
So strong and wild,
While grief and fear
Will play their part,
Still healing, slow
And sure will start.
