What Is It

(Part of my E100 series of poems)

John 20

What is it to you?
My plan for another?
Do I love you less?
Do I love him more?

Each one has his task.
Each one has her call.
Each journey is different
And I guide them all.

I like this very much. It’s concise. It saves its words, dealing them out carefully, like pearls from a casket. That last stanza is a perfect as an ending to this poem and the meter and rhyme is delightful. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you. One reason I like writing poetry is because I can be sparing with my words. Just enough of them to start the reader off, without having to get into the descriptions I would need if writing a story.

    Hi, trishadian,
Being sparing with words is something poets sometimes endeavor to do (you have done it so well here), although some of my own compositions are longer than others because of the ‘story-tale’, in rhyme and context. I invite you to visit my pages. You are most welcome. 🙂

    Thanks.
