I Called Life

From the womb
Of a world made new
I called Life

I called
Those with four feet
And those with two

I called
That which slithers
And that which crawls

I called
One to swim
And one to fly

I called
Both the big
And the small

I called trees
Growing tall
Rooted deep

I called molds
Lasting a day
Seeming so small

Out of My Joy
I called Life
To share with Me

What is That to You

I have called one
To this purpose,
Yet another
I send there.
And if their purposes
Are different,
What is that to you?

No one person;
No one body;
Is designed
To do it all.
I have given
Each a passion,
Will you answer
When I call?

Though the mission
Of another
May not be
What you desire,
Will you keep your
Eyes on Me?
Let me lead you
With My fire?

Yes, I’ve given
You a vision,
But remember
I’m the giver,
And if I gift them
With another,
What is that to you?

So much pain
Inside the words
So much pain
Behind the words

Labels, boxes
Mine and yours
Define us
Divide us

Don’t you get it?!
Don’t you understand?!

We’re destroying
Ourselves
With the words
We use

Can’t we choose to
STOP!?!

Where God is found
Questions dance
Answers sound
In our hearts
In our minds
Where in Him
Our life we find

In the space
Where grace exists
We face the truth
Our flaws we lift
Into the light
Of love’s design
And your tears
Become mine

In the space
Where worship lives
Truth meets lies
And something gives
Hearts are broken
Spirits healed
In His presence
Now we kneel

Space for failure
In His hand
He will hold
When I can’t stand
When I’ve reached
My strengths end
He will touch
He will win

Living in His Presence

I will live in the moment
Every moment of God’s breath
Each breath of my life
Moving in His Spirit

And in tune with His moving
I will learn His love
As it fills and flows through me
So I can be His touch

And I will bless those who harm me
And I will heal those in pain
And I will walk with my neighbor
And I’ll pray you do the same

For this life is not a solo
It’s a wondrous harmony
And every part has meaning
Won’t you come and sing with me

Sign of life and love eternal
In His Presence every step
And His grace in us will strengthen
And new life will come from death

And we will live in each moment
Every moment of God’s breath
Each breath of our lives

Inflamed
Hidden
The thorn I’ve held so long
You find it
You touch it
You draw it out
Healing
Release
Then…
The thorns will bloom into beauty
